On Sunday 6th July Dessie and I went to Barbury
international horse trials to represent my pony club in the team showjumping.
The course was huge with a lot of distractions around the arena. Unfortunately
Dessie had some faults but we were still pleased as the course was so
challenging.
On Wednesday 16th July I took Brook to the Badminton
Grassroots dressage championships. With Brook having been on for almost 4 weeks
before the competition with an injury to make it to the day was an achievement
in itself. Having qualified in March we had trained for this day ever since.
Brook produced a really beautiful test that left us on a final score of 71.5%
and put us into the lead. Unfortunately the last 3 went a little bit better so
we finished in 4th place only 1.2% off the winning score.
Finally on Wednesday 13th August Brook was out again at
Beaufort hunt supporters club show. Here Brook did a lovely dressage test to
score 74.8% finishing in Fourth place. We then competed in the veteran class
for horses over 15 years old and it is judged on how they move. In a very big
class with very tough completion we managed to win it and qualify for the
veteran horse and pony south west championships.
